Subject: Update; Summit postponed; Our endeavors

Janet and all, Thank you very much for your letters! Samwel, Thank you for writing to me. Overall, your work is good so far. I hope to respond early next week.

I just learned that the Global Youth Summit has been postponed until next year. So I hope that I will get to go. (Also, I did ask whether we might suggest additional candidates, but I was told this week that they had chosen everybody already.)

This means that I will not be traveling to Japan and China. Instead, I will stay in Lithuania and focus on looking for new clients, independent thinkers around the world.

Overall, things are looking good. My financial situation is very stable now thanks to a gift from my parents that made it possible for me to refinance almost all of my loans. I've been putting together information about our lab that I can present to potential clients, see: http://www.openleader.com/index.php/MinciuSodas/MinciuSodas http://www.openleader.com/index.php/MinciuSodas/Services http://www.openleader.com/index.php/MinciuSodas/Clients

What is very useful now is to consider the "endeavors" that we're pursuing as individuals. I'm making a list at: http://www.openleader.com/index.php/MinciuSodas/Endeavors So, for example (and please word this for us as you like best!): - Lucas Gonzalez Santa Cruz is putting together a booklet to help us in the event of a bird flu pandemic: http://www.globalvillages.info/index.php/TheEmergencyToolshed/Pandemic - Benoit Couture is working towards a "kingdom of heaven" that links the online and offline worlds, and in particular, a local center for healing of drug addiction and related ailments. http://www.openleader.com/index.php/LovingGod/Welcome - Jeff Buderer wants a directory of "how-to" knowledge for global villages. - Franz Nahrada is developing the profession of "regional information coach" and a "pattern language" for global villages. - Janet Feldman wants to find a way by which we globally might help people in developing countries support themselves through businesses generating revenue locally - Please let us know your endeavors!

I want to value and build on our efforts. I will start with our most active participants and invite all of us to consider what are the "endeavors" that we would like help regarding. I would like our lab to help you: - present your endeavors - make clear the personal responsibility that you're taking for your endeavor, so that your leadership is well-defined, and we take you seriously - relate your endeavor to your personal key concept and investigatory question, so that we all see how it relates to your own personal growth, so that we might invest in you as a person - relate them to our shared value of "caring about thinking" so that your endeavor might be relevant to all independent thinkers - look for ways of supporting each other's endeavors - consider independent thinkers who we admire and are working on related issues, that we might engage them to offer free and/or paid services from our lab and networks, and that they might influence our value and inspire our directions

This approach will lead to a useful social networking system. So will our work on social mapping. I look forward to thinking and writing more about that.

Tomorrow I'm participating at a Lithuanian poetry festival. This year I wrote about thirty songs and have put them on a CD. I look forward to putting them online. This is an outlet for my creativity. It's also a personal step towards a culture of independent thinkers. I wish that in 10 years we have 100,000 active and 1,000,000 supportive participants. I imagine this as a culture of "heart-to-heart" conversation. In order to speak heart-to-heart, we need to be able to stand on our own, know or find ourselves, or simply accept the strength of others. I imagine that it helps if we might be strong so that others might lean on us and leverage our strength as they grow to stand on their own and away from a crowd mentality. I think that creativity and play are key for us to engage others who might not always be comfortable with independent thinking. (Thank you to Janet (ActAlive?), Joy Tang (One Village) and all for encouraging our creative side.) Also, I imagine that our local circles and regional cultures are important for our movement. I'm very happy that Franz and Jeff have thought of the Lithuanian villages as a good base for the global village movement, and I want to work on that with you.

Our laboratory's model clients have been Franz Nahrada of GIVE and John Rogers, Becky Booth, Geoff Thomas and all at WICC. I will be looking for other such independent thinkers to serve, hopefully about ten or so: http://www.openleader.com/index.php/MinciuSodas/Prospects Today I spoke with Becky about our timebank monitoring system. I've made a page for uploading spreadsheets, and I've set up transLucid http://www.pantha.net for viewing the records and adding notes. (See http://www.cyfranogi.com for links.) We're speaking again on Wednesday and I hope to be mostly finished by then. And I look forward to engaging other timebanks that might be interested in this monitoring approach which WICC has pioneered and is less demanding and more flexible than the usual approach.

Thank you to all for great energy and productivity here! I look forward to our thoughts and updates. Let's share and see what vision might take shape.

Peace,

Andrius
